Engineering Architectural Credibility: A Bilingual Platform for Maritime Operations
The primary objective for Seelution was the development of a digital headquarters that accurately represents their stature within the maritime engineering sector. This engagement focused on creating a high-authority system that prioritises long-term operational autonomy and professional credibility over a static, generic presentation.
The Strategic Context: Defining Industry Authority
In the maritime sector, technical precision is a baseline requirement. Seelution required a digital presence that functioned as a trust-building asset, deconstructing complex engineering projects for a global audience. The project was designed to move the business away from a passive web presence toward a governed platform that supports independent management and technical clarity.
The Structural Challenge: Eliminating Technical Dependency
The fundamental issue was not merely the aesthetic age of the legacy site, but a total absence of a functional CMS foundation.
Seelution required a method to showcase active collaborations, recognised clients, and a growing portfolio of engineering projects. The previous environment prevented the internal team from performing routine updates, rendering the business unnecessarily dependent on external intervention for even the most basic content adjustments.
Technical Decisions: Architectural Discipline & Governed Workflows
WordPress was selected as the underlying engine to ensure the system remained practical and robust for daily operations. To prevent systemic bloat, we implemented a fully custom theme designed for high performance.
Key technical interventions included:
- Governed Administrative Interface: Utilising the Classic Editor and custom fields to provide a predictable editing experience that prevents accidental structural drift.
- Custom Schema Architecture: We engineered bespoke post types specifically for Ship Design and Product Engineering, allowing for a disciplined presentation of technical expertise.
- Bilingual Technical Logic: Using WPML to manage project visibility across both English and Norwegian versions of the site while maintaining a clean database structure.
- Scalable Data Relationships: A custom ‘Clients’ taxonomy was developed to manage complex project-to-client associations with absolute technical accuracy.
Operational Value: Technical Sovereignty and Scalability
The result is a sophisticated bilingual system that the Seelution team now manages with total autonomy.
Technical news, maritime projects, and client references can be published as the business evolves without requiring technical assistance. Because the architecture was engineered for future expansion, new functional layers can be introduced without structural compromise, providing a stable foundation for the practice’s long-term digital growth.
